The five days trek beginning and ending in Darjeeling, takes you along the famed Singalila range, to Sandakphu (12,000 ft) and Phalut (11,800 ft). On the way you will pass through spectacular forests of silver fir, rhododendrons, chestnuts, oaks, magnolias and hemlock. A springtime trek reveals not only stunning views of the mountains but whole hillsides covered with rhododendron and magnolia flowers. A post monsoon trek reveals the mountains in crispier glory when the rains have washed away the haze. The trail from Sandakphu to Phulut is an exhilarating experience and one can see four of the world's highest mountains: Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and Kanchenjunga in one glance.
DAY 01 :
Upon arrival meet with our assistance, transfer to hotel for rest of the night. The International flight arrives mid night at Kolkata.
DAY 02 :
After breakfast commence for a full day local visit of Kolkata.
Rest of the time visit Chowranghee (New Market) and once done with visiting the popular places take an overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 03 :
Morning transfer to airport, take flight to Bagdogra, on arrival meet to our local representative,
On arrival check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 04 :
Early morning trip to Tiger Hill to see the sunrise. (Around 04:00 hrs)
Rest of the time visit The Ridge Market and enjoy the overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 05 :
After an early breakfast drive to Manebhanjang which is the starting point of our first trek.
On arrival pitch the tent and rest of the time visit the local village. Overnight at camp.
DAY 06 :
After breakfast commence trek to Sadakphu. The route is fairly level while one reaches Gairabas about 9 kms from Tonglu. From here one encounters a steep climb which is adequately compensated by incredible scenic beauty. This 4 kms climb brings one to Kalpokhri, the dark Crystal Lake simmering in the breeze surrounded by alpine trees and is a remarkable sight. Another steep ascent for 2.5 kms and a gradual walk downhill for 1.5 km bring one to Bikhebhanjyang (3080m). The final ascent of 4 kms which is the most challenging in terms of steepness, through thick rhododendron and magnolia forsts leads one to Sandakhpu, (3400m) meaning the height of the poison plant. It is here one encounter nature's pristine glory at its magnificent best. The four of the world's highest mountains all 8000 meters high towering over you at an incredibly close distance presents you with a sight you will never forget. Overnight at camp.
DAY 07 :
After breakfast, commence the easy day of trekking and explore the scenic beauty of the place. All along, the route rhododendrons of different hues, magnolias, chestnut oak emerging out of the mysterious mists - the stately silver fir greets you through the imposing Himalayas loom large on the western horizon. The final stretch is almost bereft of vegetation owing to the sweeping icy winds. The clusters of rhododendron trees standing at a maximum height of 6 feet look like magnified bonsai. Phalut or the denuded peak is the junction of Nepal, India, and Sikkim. We continue with a knee wobbling descent downhill into the Rammam valley. This trek through rugged terrain brings one to a spectacularly picturesque village Samanden, better known as the 'lost valley'. A further walk of 2 kms brings one to Ramman (2550m). Overnight at camp.
DAY 08 :
Morning walk to Rimbick (2300m) which is another picturesque trek. The first 9 kms is a level path through forest of flowering trees. Rare orchids present another wonderful sight. The rest of the way is a slow gentle descent, as each turn and bend allows a glimpse into the rich biodiversity. On arrival at road head take a drive to Darjeeling and on arrival check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.
DAY 09 :
Take a morning drive to Kalimpong and on arrival check-in to the hotel. Till 18th Century Kalimpong was under the rule of Sikkim's rulers. Then it came under the command of the Bhutanese. Finally, in the 19th Century, the British took over Kalimpong and merged it with West Bengal. Kalimpong is one among the many popular hill stations in India that has managed to keep its natural beauty even though it is a popular summer retreat for many people. The hill station not only boasts tourist attractions but is also known for the exotic orchids that cover entire hillsides. While on your tour of Kalimpong, you may visit the Thongsa Gompa, also known as the Bhutanese Monastery. It is the oldest monastery in Kalimpong and was founded in the year 1692. Though the old structure was destroyed by the Gorkhas, it was rebuilt on the same site. Take an overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 10 :
Full day leisure time and relaxation. In the afternoon explore the local market (Weekend Market is very interested). Overnight at hotel.
DAY 11 :
Morning drive to Bagdogra, around 94 Km, take flight to Kolkata.
